Default UV protection in fake sunglasses

I bought a pair of RayBan aviators from eBay, from Malaysia, which are obviously fake.

However, they are surprisingly good quality in terms of the structure and make great everyday sunglasses, but I'm concerned about UV protection (or lack thereof).

Is there any way to apply a UV resistant layer on the lens, or would I just have to drop 4x as much money for a legit identical pair?

I don't think that you should expect too much from fake sunglasses. Fake ones' makers only focus on how to make products cheap and look as similar to the genuine ones as they can. I haven't ever seen any fake sunglasses that have UV resistant layers on lens.

There are very much difference between fake and replica sunglasses. Fake sunglasses only focus on similarities not on quality. But replica sunglasses focus on quality and similarity. Before buying a sunglass look at the tag for 100% UVA, UVB and CE certifications to ensure the quality of the lens.

I don't think that fake sunglasses can give you UV protection. Why don't you talk in the local sun glass store they might be able to add a resistant layer on the lens.

Fake sunglasses often state that they present total UV protection, obviously they would they want to make the sale...but in actuality they lack much, or in fact any, UV protection. No UV protection sets your eyes at risk from dangerous UV ray coverage. In those situations, fake sunglasses fail in the primary reason you wanted them for, for protecting your eyes against the suns dangerous rays. If they don't succeed to do that as sunglasses, why buy them?
