I think this is an original Ray Ban Aviator. In 1999 Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian Luxottica Group. After that the etching on the left lens changed from BL to RB. The etching on our Ray Ban looks original. The Ray Ban on the right lens also looks good.

Thanks for all the replies and I really appreciate the long answer from you mmafia! :-)

You are right about the bar code but I am guessing it should be different as you have another size and is probably made elsewhere (I can't imagine Ray Ban having only one factory. Also, I believe fakes don't come with bar coding.

I think from all your pictures it shows that my pair is completely the same, save the size and lettering inside the legs... And it does say Ray Ban 58-14 under the upper bar.

It is not the nose pad itself, but the silicone that can be moved a little, though I must say that the pad itself can be moved slightly.

So as an interim conclusion it appears from the pictures that our glasses are pretty much alike and that my pair is probably authentic. They also feel like the quality I would expect from a Ray Ban. The hinges are tight and there is even some weight to it! Also, the screws are of high quality. The legs look slightly different. Yours look like a flathead screwdriver if you know what I mean. Mine have that too but not as much as your pair.
The things that are weird are 1) lettering coming off (after a month!) 2) cloth 3) no icon booklet.

I bought them on the internet from a guy who also sells fakes. I e-mailed him asking he perhaps made a mistake and swapped the cloth around or anything like that. I hope I get a response soon but I know he is on a holiday.

Cheers and thanks again for all the help. It is well appreciated. :-)
