Default Ray Ban Markings

Hi all,

I have a simple question about my pair of Ray Ban aviators. I bought them like a month ago and as far as I know they are the real deal. They came in the grey box with the codes and the leather case looks legit also (Ray Ban logo on the button etc.).

Anyway I have this weird problem that all the letters on the inside of the "legs" that rest on your ears are completely gone from just normal use. Sweat must have caused this but it is not something I would expect from Ray Bans.

Is this a more common problem? Hope you guys can help me. :-)

Cheers!

No definitely not common with Ray Bans. I would guess they are fake if this has happened. Happy to help out further if you wanna upload some pics etc.

Thanks for your reply.

Yesterday I went to a local optician and she told me that the lettering probably came off from sweating. It is no final answer but she did not think they were fake because of that.

Anyway I also took some pictures.

The box they came in. Notice the recycle logo that can prove authenticity.

This logo can be found on authentic boxes also as far as I know.

Ray Ban logo on the leather case. I was told only real cases have the logo.

The leather case. Notice how it shines - proof of authenticity I was told.

Here another photo. No stitching - another proof of authenticity.

Here the weird cleaning cloth that is not the right colour I believe. This looks fake.

Here a comparison with a friend's cloth (she didn't buy an aviator though).

Hard to see but there is a small bit of paint that chipped off that is normally under the silicone pad.

Hi

You are right about a lot of your pictures, they do all look pretty good. I'll go down the
list and give my opinions on them.

You are right about the recycle symbol, this is a pretty good sign but it's not always on them and many fakes do have this too. Afraid I haven't got any of my boxes on me.

Again coding on the box does look pretty good but i'm not quite sure if it's spot on. I only have one of my boxes available with it on which I have taken a pic of so you can compare. E.g the code should be 0RB.. looks like yours is ORB, and the bar code at the bottom looks a little off.

The logo on the button again does appear on many of the authentic cases but it sometimes doesn't. I've taken pictures of a few of my buttons so you can see. They are slightly different angles and a bit closer but from what I can see they look a little different.

I've taken a couple of pics of the stamps on some of my cases so you can compare the lettering on the stamp. Again a little hard to tell but the "sunglasses by luxottica" looks a little off?

The no stitching on your case is a very good sign of authenticity. As far as I know no real ones have the stitching there.

The cloths are a little hard to tell. As you can see i've taken a few pics of mine, which same as yours do look like slightly dif colours but the middle one is from the "craft" collection so this may explain that, and also a lot newer.

Your lens etching again looks pretty good but if you have a look at my pics, again dif angles but i'm not sure if maybe it doesn't quite look as "clean" as mine? Maybe not as sharp?

Your "Ray Ban" on right lens looks good, have a look at my pics, see if you can notice any dif?

Yep, the flares at the ends normally show they are authentic. Not a lot else I can say about that one!

The big thing for me is the lettering on the arms. I just can't believe they would rub off with sweat... I've taken a few pics of some of mine, but they have all survived fine. Some of which I have owned for 5 or 6 years without any rubbing off.

The nose pad i'm not quite sure what I'm looking at? From mine it's not possible to move the nose pad like that? They are clipped in place pretty tight.

What is the stamping like on yours under the top nose bridge? They are normally a pretty good sign though yours should say RAY-BAN 58-14, not 55-14 like the pic I've taken.

How about the icon booklet, did you get one of them? Also I've taken a pic of the screws on one pair.
Ray-ban use quality screws, do yours look the same?

I've also taken a few pics of some of mine just straight on as this is normally the best way to judge, just by how they look and feel. Unfortunately I can't exactly have a hold of yours from here but how do they feel? Tight hinges? You can normally tell if they feel like good quality. Also where did you get them? That's normally a pretty good start.

Have a compare against the pics i've taken and see if there is anything you pic up on and let me know what you think. As i'm sure you can tell i'm a bit of a Ray-Ban geek so more than happy to help out where I can!
